Warranty Policy

Last Updated: 24 September 2026

TNT Spares is committed to supplying products that meet applicable quality requirements and to handling legitimate warranty claims fairly and in accordance with South African consumer law.

This Warranty Policy explains the warranty process for products purchased from TNT Spares.

Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any rights a consumer may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) or other applicable South African law.

1. Statutory Warranty

Where the Consumer Protection Act applies, goods supplied to consumers are subject to an implied warranty of quality.

Goods should be:

  • Reasonably suitable for the purposes for which they are generally intended
  • Of good quality
  • In good working order
  • Free from defects
  • Reasonably usable and durable considering the circumstances of supply

If qualifying goods fail to meet these requirements within six months after delivery, the consumer may, subject to the Consumer Protection Act, return the goods without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense and direct the supplier to:

  • Repair the goods
  • Replace the goods; or
  • Refund the purchase price

These statutory rights are separate from any additional manufacturer, supplier or extended warranty that may apply.

2. Manufacturer and Supplier Warranties

Some products sold by TNT Spares may include an additional warranty provided by the manufacturer, importer or supplier.

Warranty periods and conditions may differ between products and brands.

Where an additional warranty applies, details may be provided:

  • On the product page
  • On the product packaging
  • In documentation supplied with the product
  • By the manufacturer or supplier
  • Directly by TNT Spares where confirmed

Customers should not assume that every product carries the same manufacturer or supplier warranty period.

3. Warranty Periods

TNT Spares does not apply a single manufacturer warranty period to every product.

Different products may have different warranty conditions depending on the manufacturer, supplier and product type.

Where a specific additional warranty period has been confirmed for a product, that warranty will apply according to its stated terms.

Applicable statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

4. How to Submit a Warranty Claim

If you believe a product purchased from TNT Spares is defective, contact us before returning the product.

Please provide:

  • Your name
  • Order number or proof of purchase
  • Product name
  • SKU or model number where available
  • Description of the problem
  • Date the problem occurred
  • Photographs or video where useful
  • Product serial number where applicable

Contact:

Email:info@tnts.co.za
Telephone: 075 000 0010

TNT Spares will advise you on the next steps.

5. Proof of Purchase

TNT Spares may request reasonable proof that the product was purchased from us.

Acceptable information may include:

  • Order confirmation
  • Invoice
  • Receipt
  • Transaction reference
  • Customer account order history
  • Other information that reasonably identifies the transaction

Providing the order number will normally help us locate the purchase more quickly.

6. Product Assessment

A product submitted for a warranty claim may need to be inspected or tested before the nature and cause of the problem can be determined.

The assessment may include:

  • Visual inspection
  • Functional testing
  • Verification of model or serial number
  • Inspection for physical damage
  • Checking for missing components
  • Checking for signs of misuse or unauthorised modification
  • Manufacturer or supplier assessment where necessary

The assessment process does not remove or reduce any statutory rights available to a consumer.

7. Repair, Replacement or Refund

Where a product qualifies for a remedy under the statutory warranty contained in the Consumer Protection Act, the applicable repair, replacement or refund rights will be handled in accordance with the Act.

Within the statutory six-month period, where section 56 applies, the consumer may direct whether qualifying defective goods should be repaired, replaced or refunded.

Where an additional manufacturer or supplier warranty applies after the statutory period, the remedy may be determined according to the applicable warranty terms, subject to any rights that continue to apply under South African law.

8. Products Previously Repaired

Where goods are repaired under the statutory warranty and, within three months after that repair, the original defect has not been remedied or a further qualifying defect is discovered, the Consumer Protection Act provides for replacement of the goods or a refund of the purchase price, subject to the Act.

9. What May Not Constitute a Warranty Defect

A warranty claim may not apply where the problem results from circumstances such as:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Misuse or abuse
  • Accidental damage
  • Incorrect installation
  • Incorrect operation
  • Use outside the product's intended application
  • Failure to follow manufacturer instructions
  • Improper maintenance
  • Unauthorised modification
  • Unauthorised repair
  • Damage caused after delivery
  • External electrical faults or incorrect power supply
  • Environmental conditions outside the product's intended operating requirements

Each claim will be considered according to the product, circumstances, applicable warranty and applicable law.

These provisions do not exclude liability for a product that was defective when supplied or otherwise fails to meet statutory requirements.

10. Wear Items and Consumable Products

Certain products or components may naturally wear through normal use.

Examples may include consumables, cutting components, grinding products, abrasive products and other items designed to wear during normal operation.

Normal wear resulting from ordinary use is not necessarily a product defect.

However, a product being classified as a consumable or wear item does not remove a customer's rights where the product was defective or otherwise failed to comply with applicable consumer law.

11. Incorrect Use or Application

Customers should ensure that products are suitable for their intended application.

Where assistance is required, customers are encouraged to contact TNT Spares before purchasing.

When using:

  • Tools
  • Machinery
  • Lifting equipment
  • Electrical products
  • Automotive equipment
  • Workshop equipment

customers should follow the applicable manufacturer instructions, operating procedures and safety requirements.

12. Unauthorised Repairs or Modifications

Customers should not dismantle, modify or attempt unauthorised repairs on a product where doing so may affect the product's condition or applicable warranty.

If a product develops a problem, contact TNT Spares before attempting repairs where a warranty claim may be required.

Unauthorised alteration, misuse or repair may affect a warranty claim depending on the circumstances and applicable law.

13. Physical Damage

Damage occurring after delivery because of accidents, impact, incorrect storage, misuse or other external causes may not constitute a warranty defect.

Where a product was damaged during delivery, please contact TNT Spares as soon as reasonably possible and refer to our Shipping & Delivery Policy and Returns & Refunds Policy.

14. Accessories and Components

Where a product consists of multiple components, accessories or attachments, the warranty assessment may apply specifically to the affected component.

Please return or provide all items requested by TNT Spares when a warranty assessment is required.

15. Serial Numbers

Where a product has a serial number, model number or identification label, this information may be required to process a warranty claim.

Customers should not intentionally remove, alter or damage product identification labels.

16. Return of Warranty Products

Do not send a product back to TNT Spares without first contacting us.

Once the claim has been reported, we will provide instructions regarding:

  • Where the product should be sent or delivered
  • Information required with the product
  • Packaging requirements where applicable
  • Courier or transport arrangements where applicable

Where South African consumer law requires the supplier to bear the risk and expense of returning qualifying defective goods, the claim will be handled accordingly.

17. Manufacturer or Supplier Assessment

Certain warranty claims may require technical assessment by the manufacturer, importer or supplier.

Where this is necessary, TNT Spares may facilitate the assessment process.

The involvement of another party does not remove any statutory responsibility TNT Spares may have toward the customer where applicable law places that responsibility on the retailer.

18. Warranty Processing Time

The time required to assess a warranty claim may depend on:

  • Product type
  • Nature of the reported fault
  • Testing required
  • Availability of replacement stock
  • Manufacturer or supplier involvement
  • Transport requirements

TNT Spares will aim to keep customers reasonably informed while a warranty claim is being processed.

We do not guarantee a fixed warranty processing period unless specifically confirmed.

19. Replacement Products

Where replacement is the appropriate remedy, replacement is subject to applicable law and, where relevant, product availability.

If the identical product is unavailable, TNT Spares will communicate with the customer regarding the available resolution.

20. Refunds

Where a refund is the applicable remedy, TNT Spares will process the approved refund using an appropriate payment method.

The time required for funds to reflect may depend on the bank, payment method or payment service provider.

21. Safety

If you believe a product is unsafe or has developed a fault that may create a safety risk:

Stop using the product and contact TNT Spares.

Do not continue operating equipment that appears unsafe, damaged or defective.

22. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to remove, reduce or replace any right or remedy available to a consumer under applicable South African law.

Where there is a conflict between this policy and a mandatory provision of applicable consumer legislation, the applicable legislation will prevail.
