Returns & Refunds Policy
Returns & Refunds Policy
Last Updated: 24 September 2026
TNT Spares wants customers to receive the correct products in good condition and in accordance with applicable South African consumer law.
This Returns & Refunds Policy explains how returns, defective products, incorrect products and refunds are handled.
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any rights that a consumer may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) or other applicable South African law.
1. Before Returning a Product
Please contact TNT Spares before returning any product.
Provide:
- Your name
- Order number
- Product name or SKU
- Reason for the return
- Description of any fault or damage
- Photographs where relevant
Contact details:
Email:info@tnts.co.za
Telephone: 075 000 0010
TNT Spares will advise you on the next steps for the return.
2. Incorrect Products
If TNT Spares supplies a product different from the product ordered, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
We may request photographs or other information to confirm the product received.
Once the return has been assessed and confirmed, TNT Spares will arrange an appropriate remedy, which may include:
- Supplying the correct product, subject to availability; or
- Refunding the applicable purchase price.
3. Products Damaged on Delivery
If a product is damaged when delivered or collected, please notify TNT Spares as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide:
- Order number
- Description of the damage
- Photographs of the product
- Photographs of the packaging where relevant
Keep the original packaging until the matter has been assessed.
TNT Spares will review the information and advise on the appropriate return or replacement process.
4. Defective Products
South African consumer law provides consumers with an implied warranty of quality for qualifying goods.
Under section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, if qualifying goods fail to meet the standards required by the Act within six months after delivery, the consumer may return the goods without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense.
Subject to the circumstances and applicable law, the consumer may choose:
- Repair
- Replacement
- Refund
These rights apply where goods fail to meet the quality requirements in the Consumer Protection Act and are subject to the provisions and exclusions contained in the Act.
5. Products That Have Been Repaired
Where TNT Spares or an applicable supplier repairs goods under the statutory warranty and, within three months after that repair, the defect has not been remedied or another qualifying defect is discovered, the Consumer Protection Act may require replacement of the goods or a refund of the purchase price.
This will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
6. Manufacturer or Supplier Warranties
Some products may carry an additional manufacturer or supplier warranty.
The duration and conditions of these warranties may differ between products.
Where an additional warranty applies, the relevant manufacturer's or supplier's warranty conditions may also need to be followed.
A manufacturer or supplier warranty does not remove any statutory rights that apply under South African consumer law.
7. Change-of-Mind Returns
A general change of mind does not automatically give a customer the right to return every product.
Whether a change-of-mind return can be accepted will depend on:
- The circumstances of the transaction
- The condition of the product
- Whether applicable legislation provides a right to return
- Whether TNT Spares has separately agreed to accept the return
Where TNT Spares voluntarily agrees to accept a change-of-mind return, the product may need to be:
- Unused
- Undamaged
- Complete
- In its original packaging
- Accompanied by all accessories, manuals and components
TNT Spares will confirm whether such a return can be accepted before the product is sent back.
South African government guidance confirms that the CPA's six-month defective-goods protection does not create a general right to demand a refund simply because a customer no longer wants an otherwise compliant product.
8. Products That Cannot Be Returned for Reasons Unrelated to a Defect
Subject always to applicable consumer law, TNT Spares may decline a voluntary return where:
- The product has been used, damaged or altered after delivery
- Parts, accessories or packaging are missing
- The product was damaged through misuse, abuse or improper operation
- Damage resulted from installation or use contrary to manufacturer instructions
- The product has been modified or repaired without appropriate authorisation
- The product was specially sourced or ordered for the customer and no statutory return right applies
This does not limit a customer's rights in relation to qualifying defective, unsafe or incorrectly supplied goods.
9. Product Inspection
Returned products may need to be inspected before TNT Spares can determine the appropriate resolution.
Inspection may include checking:
- Product condition
- Completeness
- Serial number
- Accessories
- Packaging
- Nature of the reported fault
- Evidence of misuse or physical damage
An inspection does not override rights available to consumers under applicable legislation.
10. Return Shipping and Collection
Responsibility for return transport depends on the reason for the return and applicable law.
Where qualifying defective goods fall within the statutory protection provided by section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, the Act provides for return without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense.
For voluntary or other returns that are not required by law, TNT Spares will confirm any applicable transport arrangements or charges before the return is processed.
11. Refunds
Where a refund is approved, TNT Spares will process the refund using an appropriate payment method.
The time required for the funds to reflect may depend on:
- Payment method
- Bank
- Payment service provider
- Transaction processing times
TNT Spares will process approved refunds as reasonably promptly as possible.
12. Original Delivery Charges
Whether original delivery charges are refundable will depend on the reason for the return and applicable law.
Where the return results from:
- Incorrect goods supplied by TNT Spares
- Qualifying defective goods
- Another circumstance where TNT Spares is legally responsible
the matter will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law.
13. Order Cancellations
If you need to cancel an order, contact TNT Spares as soon as possible.
Cancellation may depend on whether:
- Payment has been received
- The order has been processed
- The product has been packed
- The order has already been dispatched
- The product was specially sourced or ordered
Any cancellation rights granted by applicable South African law remain unaffected.
14. Special Orders
Products specially sourced, manufactured, modified or ordered specifically for a customer may be subject to additional return conditions where permitted by law.
Any relevant special-order conditions should be communicated to the customer before the order is confirmed.
Statutory rights relating to defective or incorrectly supplied goods remain unaffected.
15. Proof of Purchase
TNT Spares may request reasonable proof of purchase when processing a return.
This may include:
- Order confirmation
- Invoice
- Receipt
- Transaction reference
- Other information that reasonably identifies the purchase
